Germany skipper Bastian Schweinsteiger on Friday reported his retirement from international duty with prompt impact.
The 31-year-old Manchester United midfielder, who won his 120th and last top in Germany's 2-0 annihilation to France in the elimination rounds of Euro 2016, uncovered the news on his official Twitter account.
"With Bastian Schweinsteiger, we are stating farewell to a major name from the national group," said German Football Association president Reinhard Grindel.

"I might want to thank the fans, the group, the German Football Association and the mentors.
"In 120 internationals, I have been permitted to run out for my nation and experience minutes which were undescribably wonderful and fruitful."
WORLD CUP JOY

He retained everything the Argentina midfield tossed at him to help Germany secure a 1-0 additional time triumph as Mario Goetze's triumphant objective gave kick the bucket Mannschaft a fourth title.
"Winning the 2014 World Cup was a notable and passionate minute for us, which won't be rehashed again in my profession," said Schweinsteiger.
"In this manner, it is the opportune time and sensible to complete now and to want the national group to enjoy all that life has to offer for the qualifying stage and the 2018 World Cup.
"At last, I simply need to say to our fans: 'It was a honor to have possessed the capacity to play for you, much obliged for everything that I could involvement with you.'"
Thomas Mueller, a potential Germany skipper without bounds, paid tribute to his national fellow team member.
"Much obliged for 120 internationals and numerous amazing minutes, hours for the national group," said his ex-Bayern fellow team member.
Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is the most loved to supplant Schweinsteiger as Germany's commander as Loew stacked applause on his midfield marshal.
"On an individual and wearing level, I need to express profound gratitude for 12 trust-filled years," said Loew.
"On every event, I had the inclination he gave everything for the national group and firmly related to our qualities and objectives.
"As a mentor, I profited a great deal from him and can just say thanks to him for all that he has accomplished for me."
Schweinsteiger says one of his few second thoughts while playing for his nation is Germany's Euro 2016 elimination round way out.
